Monday, the day after yesterday (Mother’s Day)

While the sun did shine yesterday, it was still a difficult day for many of us. Not just because we can’t be outdoors, or play golf or volleyball but because for many, we continue to be restricted from seeing, and hugging our mothers. It is the 2nd Mother’s Day of being restricted; some distanced by emergency stay at home orders and some like me, separated by death. Another of the firsts…
I re-read some of my earlier blogs, including those about Mother’s Day and it is so evident to me the role that mother’s can play in our lives- at least I see my mother’s influence and probably on a daily basis.
Now I am a mother too and this is a title that I own and wear proudly. I know how fortunate I am.
The greeting I received this year read “One of the greatest fortunes in all of life is being born to such a loving, caring and inspiring mother. I appreciate so much all that you have done and all that you continue to do for me.”
So touching, so lovely and an excellent reminder to be ‘in the moment’. Reflecting on the past is ok, planning ahead is good too BUT living in the present is truly what we have. The only thing we can control are the messages we send out and how we receive messages from others.
