Saying Goodbye

Tomorrow I say a final goodbye to my mother in law, Alice Frank. Finally at peace after a difficult few months. Fiercely independent until this spring, remaining in her own home for over 50 years. She entered palliative care on Friday and died on Sunday morning. I have had the good fortune to know and to have loved and be loved by her for 30 years. Every conversation ended with ‘I love you’- conditionally and heartfelt. How often in life does someone think you are truly wonderful and tells you all the time?…. I could not have asked for a better mother in law. She was a role model and she has set an example that I hope to follow with my own future daughter in laws. Good bye Alice, you will be missed.
