Family: Blood is thicker than water

I have had the pleasure of reconnecting with family that I have not seen in over 35 years. Although I have not kept up with their daily lives nor have been part of their growing up years, there was a bond that I can only describe as ‘family’. Some now have children who are older than I was when I last saw them and yes, we have added wrinkles, worries and responsibilities. As we sat around the holiday table, shared a meal and wine together and sang songs that traditionally connected us, we all experienced a special connection. Extended families are just that- extensions of ourselves that join our pasts, our present and our futures. Family is truly enriching.
