When care decisions become complicated, Elder Caring Inc.’s Functional Living Assessment™ provides an objective professional opinion on daily functioning, safety, care needs, costs and options—for today and tomorrow. It documents areas of concern, quantifies the support required and recommends a plan centred on the older person.
Daily functioning, safety, care needs, costs and options—for today and tomorrow.
Who this is for
For families, estate lawyers and mediators seeking a clearer picture of an older person’s day-to-day needs and the support those needs require.
The support
What we help you understand.
01
Understand the whole situation
The assessment considers daily functioning, safety, living circumstances and available support, together with current and anticipated care needs. It helps families and professional advisors focus on the older person’s needs when views differ.
02
A written basis for decisions
The report documents care needs, the type and amount of support required, care options and associated costs. Before proceeding, Elder Caring Inc. confirms the questions to address and the intended use of the professional opinion.
03
From recommendations to practical support
Once the FLA is complete, Elder Caring Inc. can help put its recommendations into practice through care management. The services, responsibilities and fees for this follow-up are agreed separately.
Getting started
A clear scope from the outset.
01
Discuss the question
Tell us who is requesting the assessment, the care concerns and how the report would be used. Please do not upload client records through the inquiry form.
02
Agree to the engagement
Elder Caring Inc. discusses the specific issues to address, any conflicts, required documentation, permissions, timing and fees. The engagement paperwork must be signed and returned before work proceeds.
03
Assess and recommend
The assessment leads to a written professional opinion and recommendations. Once the FLA is complete, discuss whether you would like ECI’s help arranging or coordinating the recommended care.
Before you decide
Your questions, answered.
Is this the same as ongoing care management?
No. The FLA is an assessment and opinion report focused on care needs. Ongoing care management helps coordinate and implement support. ECI can discuss both, with their scopes agreed separately.
Can a lawyer inquire on a client’s behalf?
Yes. Describe your role and the assessment question in your initial inquiry. ECI will discuss an appropriate process for sharing further information.
What does an assessment cost?
Fees depend on the agreed scope of work. Contact ECI to discuss the assessment, report requirements and applicable fees before proceeding.
